Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays, everyone! We just got back from grandma's for Christmas, and I am full of food and presents. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did on this, my second Christmas. Despite being sick and having 5 teeth come in at the same time, I'm managing quite well. I want to wish you all a spectacular end of 2007 and I hope you all sleep through the night by now. I'm giving it til 2008, personally!

Life of a one year old

Oh, the life of a one year old is so very full! It's so full, that as you can see, I spend a lot of time just lounging around in my pajamas. Cause that's how we roll in Chicago in the winter. Or at least, it's how I've heard to prep for winter. I also like to get in all of my important phone calls before the holidays, cause you know, so many people take off of work then. In some of the above pictures, I am in the middle of very serious business transactions (I don't know if you can tell:)). By the way, if I have accidentally called you in the past month or so, I apologize for not knowing more words to communicate to you with. I'm getting there.

Pumpkins and Petting Zoos

Um, do you know what a goat is? They're really nice. But they smell funny. But hey, so do I. I don't think we should be judged on smell alone. We have a lot of other great things to offer. I can lift a pumpkin. And the goat can...Well, I can do a lot of cool stuff. The goat's gonna have to defend himself.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to me! Happy Birthday to me! Not only did I turn one this week, but I learned to walk especially for my party! And believe me, I am growing older with style. and panache. whatever that means. and i'm having a whole lotta fun! One year ago I was just a little thing...well, maybe I was never really that little. But now I eat exotic things like chicken; I have six (almost 8) teeth; I can point to things; I can say da da and bye bye; I have opinions and ideas, and I'm really very funny. oh, and i love dogs. and squirrels. and i love to get into trouble. but this is only the beginning folks!! Isn't that exciting?

The Boy of Summer

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you your first place Chicago Cubs!!! I'm not saying I'm a good luck charm or anything, but...I went to my first ever, real live, peanuts and popcorn, hot doggin' and cracker jackin' baseball game today. And the Cubs are in first place this late in the season for the first time since before I was born. I'm just sayin'. Check out my new shirt (and Mom's too), my cool sign and the awesome shot of me with the scoreboard in the background. Yeah we came up a few runs short today, that's why I look so nervous in some of the pics. But we had a great time, that's why I look so happy in the others. This is a big, big day in a boy's life, sports fans. My Dad wanted me to say that all I want for my first birthday is the World Series. Can you say World Series? Cool, I can't.

show off

Hi people--
Not much new. Mom and dad still haven't fully unpacked, as you can see from the multiple pictures with boxes in them. It's none of my nevermind though, because that's where Nelly sleeps, and I've made it my life's mission to befriend her. She and Sula have other plans. They're the first beings not wrapped around my little finger. Unlike Grandpa here; he is putty in my hands! Oh, I went to the zoo! Do you know the difference between a monkey and an ape? I do. Monkeys have tails and apes don't. I'm really quite smart for my age. But you already knew that. How am I like a monkey? I love not wearing any clothes! and swinging by my tail!

how babies play

Waylon's first playdate.

Keep in mind that there are a trillion toys to play with.
But faux drumsticks are the hot ticket today.

Picture 1. Things seem to be going pretty well.

Picture 2. Uh oh. The owner of the sticks decides that she would rather keep them where she can see them. And out of the mouth of you know who.

Picture 3. Waylon decides that he doesn't care what the owner wants; he wants the sticks!! He pulls out all the "boy" stops to assert his authority, even though all he really wants is a kiss!

Thanks for playing with us, Josephine! Even if Waylon did steal all of your toys and accidentally bonk you in the head a few times--

the avocado song

"Sing us a song dad; you're a good singer.
Waylon's making guacamole with his little finger.
He mashes the avocado between his nose and lips,
PLEASE MOM, BRING US SOME TORTILLA CHIPS!"

I wrote this song for Tom Waits last night. What do you think?

Things are going swimmingly here. In case you were wondering, I can sleep through the night now! Mom and dad seem to think this is the most amazing new trick ever, but I am more impressed by my new kissing skills. I also won second place in a baby swinging contest hosted by those red headed twins who won olympic gymnastics a couple of years ago. They were very upset that I didn't know who they were. Whatever. Anyhow, love and KISSES to you all...
